Action Against Hunger – Spain, as part of the Action Against Hunger (AAH) International network, is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-confessional and non-profit organisation. Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organization that fights hunger and its root causes worldwide. It has been operating in the South Caucasus region since 1994 and its current programmes focus on the following areas: Food Security, Livelihoods, Agriculture, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Rural Development and Humanitarian Assistance.
At this time Action Against Hunger is looking to contract 2 Shuttle Coaches to provide trainings and coaching within the framework of a project funded by UNHCR. The project aims to support to strengthen the capacities and personal and professional competences of 30 youth from Ochamchire, Gali and Tkvarcheli districts in Abkhazia. To support this process Action Against Hunger will provide group and individual coaching sessions using the ‘Shuttle’ methodology to support the social and economic inclusion of youth within Abkhazia.
The Shuttle methodology has been developed by Action Against Hunger and the selected coaches will be trained by Action Against Hunger staff on the delivery of this approach. A Shuttle is a group of motivated, unemployed people who are guided by a coach to develop their skills, knowledge, professional competences, and connections that will allow them to find employment or develop their own small business. Over a period of 4 months the Shuttle will provide participants with a common space, peer support, empathy, solidarity, and motivation that unites the group and enables them to develop their social skills, improve their self-esteem and increase their employability and entrepreneurial key competences. In a break from traditional learning approaches, it is the Shuttle participants themselves that take the lead in deciding upon the developmental areas that should be concentrated on and then they work as a team to achieve these goals.
